Today’s cyber threats are becoming increasingly more targeted and sophisticated with criminal networks operating across the world, coordinating complex attacks against targets in a matter of minutes.
Due to the complexity of the cyber-threat landscape, cybercrime investigations are profoundly different in nature than the traditional crimes, requiring high-level technical expertise and large-scale cross-jurisdictional investigations.
Recent surveillance controversy, invasion of privacy, rise in cybercrimes, espionage on corporate sector and shady censorship policies in Pakistan are eye openers for many of us. A few questions pop up in every thinking mind. What is happening on our cyber fronts? How are we reverting to cyber threats? How are we protecting our Critical Network Infrastructure? How are we collaborating with other CERTs and countries? Along with so many other relevant questions that needs attention by authorities and relevant stake-holders alike.
It is essential that law enforcement prioritize resources, build cross-jurisdictional and cross sectorial collaboration in addition to developing the technical expertise, tools and infrastructure required to effectively combat threats and eventually enhance digital security.
In response, Pakistan Information Security Association(PISA) has been working for the last many years to highlight this much needed topic of Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration for Combating Cyber Crimes. PISA will seek to implement an alliance with multi-stakeholders, including government organizations, academia, law enforcement agencies and Internet security specialists from the private and public sector, to leverage their respective expertise and resources for fighting cybercrimes.
CSP Conference Platform is an effort to put our best step forward for the mentioned cause.
Last year, CSP’13 is named as mega success. The Conference was attended by more than 200 delegates from across the country. This year, CSP’14 is themed as “Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration” for Combating Cyber Crimes is planned from 9th to 12th January at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad.
